Four of Pentacles

In shortHolding on tightly. It works, and it costs you.

Upright

holding onsecuritysavingcontrolconservation

You are holding on, it is working, and it is also costing you something. This is security through keeping — savings, caution, hanging on to what you have. There is nothing wrong with that and the card does not scold. It just notes that hands full of one thing cannot pick up another.

Reversed

The grip loosens. Spending, giving, investing, or letting go of something you have been clutching well past its usefulness. Occasionally it warns of the opposite — being unable to hold on to anything, money or otherwise, with everything going out as fast as it comes in.

In the pictureHe sits on a stool outside the city, crown pentacle on his head, one clutched to his chest, two under his feet. Every pentacle is a point of contact and none of his limbs are free. The city behind him is where the life is.

The turn

Release one thing you are holding. Notice that nothing collapses.
