Ten of Swords

In shortRock bottom — which means it is over.

Upright

This is a total and slightly theatrical defeat. The thing ends completely, there is nothing to salvage, and there is a strange relief in that. It is over. The card is nearly always melodramatic about it, which is a hint: the situation is finished, and you are not.

Reversed

You get up. Recovery begins, the worst is behind you, improvement is slow but real. Less commonly it means refusing a recovery that is available — staying down because the ground has become familiar.

In the pictureHe lies face down with ten swords in his back — far more than necessary, which is the point. But the sky is black only at the top: a golden dawn breaks along the horizon. His right hand is held in a blessing.

The turn

Accept that it is over and start from zero. There is nothing left here to defend.
